Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead a crossfunctional team in our Controls business. This onsite position in Glendale WI is responsible for driving new product development and sustaining existing product lines across a portfolio that includes valves and actuators refrigeration controls BAS controllers sensors and thermostats.
This role is ideal for a strategic engineering leader with a strong mechanical engineering foundation deep knowledge of regulatory and quality systems and the ability to deliver innovative solutions in a fastpaced product development environment. How you will do it
Lead and develop a highperforming team of 1015 engineers and professionals including mechanical engineers agency compliance engineers NPI materials buyers designers and drafters.
Drive new product development (NPD) from concept through launch ensuring compliance performance and cost targets are met.
Oversee sustaining engineering activities addressing product updates regulatory compliance and supply chain continuity.
Ensure compliance with global safety and regulatory standards such as UL CE and EMC; guide design and documentation for agency approvals.
Collaborate with global supply chain and sourcing teams to support materials management supplier alignment and readiness for new product introductions.
Manage a small team of NPI materials buyers to ensure successful NPD of end to end in the development cycle.
Champion mechanical engineering excellence including structural integrity design optimization and manufacturability.
Apply and promote quality engineering practices such as DFMEA PFMEA 8D root cause analysis and finite element analysis (FEA). Will lead a small team of quality engineers and be responsible for New Product Introduction quality and triage of filed quality issues on current products.
Lead and manage Engineering Changes (ECs) that impact factory operations ensuring proper documentation validation and coordination across engineering manufacturing and quality teams.
Provide technical leadership to mechanical designers ensuring the delivery of highquality CAD models drawings and design documentation that meet product requirements and are optimized for manufacturability.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering tools processes and documentation.
Work closely with product management operations and manufacturing to deliver innovative costeffective and reliable products.
Foster a culture of accountability professional development and high performance through effective mentorship and leadership.
What you will need
Required
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related field.
10 years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in an engineering management role.
Proven success in leading crossfunctional teams and managing complex product development initiatives.
Experience with regulatory compliance and certification processes (UL CE EMC etc..
Strong communication leadership and project management skills.
Deep understanding of product lifecycle processes from concept through production launch.
Preferred
PMP certification and/or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
Experience in building automation HVAC controls or related electromechanical industries.
Familiarity with sensor integration embedded control systems or electromechanical design.
Masters degree in Engineering Technology Management or Business (MBA).
