Purpose Statement
The Springfield Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lunchroom Aide in the Nutrition Services Department.
The Springfield School District is Missouris largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools. About 25000 students attend 36 elementary schools an intermediate school 9 middle schools 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.
The job of Lunchroom Aide is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for nutrition service activities at an assigned location; preparing and/or serving food items to students staff and parents according to food safety guidelines; and maintaining nutrition service facilities and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percentages and/or ratios; understand written procedures read and follow instructions; and understand multistep written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; quantify food preparation and handling; and sanitation practices.
Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; and operating equipment found in a commercial kitchen.
Ability is required to schedule activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Terms of Employment
The terms of employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Missouri public school and Board of Education policy as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by Collective Bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between SPS and that Collective Bargaining representative.

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some climbing and balancing frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
