Job Duties
This position reviews evaluates and responds to consumer inquiries and complaints submitted electronically or by hard copy. The Intake Specialist refers consumer inquiries and complaints within the jurisdiction of the Consumer Protection Section to the Sections Dispute Resolution Unit investigators or attorneys as appropriate. The Intake Specialist refers consumer inquiries and complaints not within the jurisdiction of the Consumer Protection Section to the appropriate local state or federal agency. The position provides consumer education and other information as may be appropriate including information regarding consumer protection laws other consumer protection agencies and other resources. The position conducts research regarding businesses individuals and other government agencies as may be necessary to determine the proper handling of consumer inquiries and complaints. The position prepares responses to Freedom of Information Act requests. In addition the Intake Specialist provides backup coverage for the Consumer Protection Hotline Call Center as needed. The position reports to the Manager of the Counseling Intake and Referral Unit.
