Primary Purpose:
Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs including selfhelp behavior management and instructional programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Associates degree two years 48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning orhave met formal academic assessmentrequirements
Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for EducatorCertification will be recommended by the district upon hire
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to work with children with disabilities including autism
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of general office equipment
Basic first aid knowledge and CPR
Minimum Experience
Prior experience working with children

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate walking standing heavy lifting and carrying of students up to 53 pounds; climbing stooping bending kneeling and require contact with individuals that may include exposure to disruptive behavior. exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
