Overview
The Medical Gastroenterologist Consultant plays a critical role in the healthcare system as a specialist in diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract. This position is essential for delivering highquality care to patients in Karnal Haryana. The consultant will be expected to diagnose treat and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. With an emphasis on patientcentered care the gastroenterologist will engage in direct patient consultations conduct diagnostic tests interpret results and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive treatment plans. The role also involves the continuous advancement of clinical knowledge and contributing to best practices in gastroenterology. By providing specialized care and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction the consultant will reinforce the organization s commitment to improving the health of the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations and medical histories.
- Diagnose gastrointestinal conditions through clinical assessments and appropriate tests.
- Perform endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies and upper GI endoscopies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on diagnostic findings.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
- Educate patients about their conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology through continued education and research.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees.
- Prepare and maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with medical regulations and standards.
- Engage in community outreach and health education programs.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to policy development.
- Provide afterhours coverage and be oncall for urgent cases as required.
Required Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree in Medicine.
- DM (Doctorate of Medicine) or DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Gastroenterology.
- State medical license to practice in Haryana.
- Proven experience in gastroenterology including clinical practice and procedures.
- Strong understanding of diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Proficiency in endoscopic techniques and patient management.
- Keen analytical skills for problemsolving and decision making.
- Commitment to patientcentered care and ethical practices.
- Understanding of current research in gastrointestinal diseases.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
- Proficient in electronic health record systems and medical documentation.
