Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Athletic Facilities and Club Sports Manager the Coordinator of Recreational Sports oversees the planning and of intramural leagues tournaments special events and extramural activities. This position facilitates program participation and provides direction training professional development and leadership to student groups teams coaches officials and staff. The Coordinator of Recreational Sports also assists the Athletic Facilities and Club Sports Manager with the daily implementation of the club sports program and with athletic/recreational fields and facility locations with duties including oversight of maintenance and scheduling field lighting schedules and policy development and compliance and facility and field lighting schedules.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide various intramural programs and special events encompassing traditional and nontraditional sports.
Develop new intramural activities create sport schedules arrange appropriate facilities manage contracts with game officials and advise those interested in joining leagues forming teams and hosting youth events/competitions.
Coordinate programmatic supervisory and daytoday operational aspects of Intramurals.
Assist immediate supervisor with club sports team governing bodies and leagues in ensuring effective management of club sports and assist with the verification of Club Sports league player eligibility rosters.
Recruit hire train schedule supervise guide and evaluate students volunteers and temporary employees to serve as student area supervisors officials scorekeepers and office assistants.
Create and revise staff training/program documents and conduct training clinics for teams board members coaches officials and supervisors/leaders.
Monitor the work of students and/or staff; identify problem areas and take the necessary steps to improve efficiency. Address student disciplinary incidents and protests.
Monitor the operations and individual team budgets for assigned areas track area operating expenses and recommend/initiate sports equipment purchases as needed.
Maintain program supplies and equipment inventory.
Inspect equipment regularly to ensure safety standards are met.
Observe concussion protocols and utilize onfield assessment tools to enhance player safety and ensure a sufficient standard of care is met.
Coordinate and monitor facility reservations for intramural games practices and special events including both oncampus and offcampus locations.
Represent the department on divisional and universitywide committees as needed.
Participate in the planning and implementation of largescale institutional programs campus activities conferences and camps such as Red Hawk Day Fall Frenzy Homecoming and Senior Week.
Develop update and distribute a variety of promotional materials such as manuals and print media
Prepare clear and informative reports that identify findings conclusions and recommendations. Maintain program and participation rate records analyze statistical data and evaluate results to improve future program planning.
Administer participant assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and satisfaction.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in physical education sports management or a related field.
Minimum two 2 years of professional experience coordinating largescale programs special events or other student related activities.
Certification in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuer or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of Title IX Safe Space concussion safety.
Ability to work independently and lead a growing program.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide diversity of people.
Excellent administrative organizational written interpersonal and computer skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours occasional holidays and occasional travel.
PREFERRED:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in physical education sports management or a related field.
Previous experience as an intramural team player coach or coordinator in a university setting.
Experience developing sports officials.
Previous officiating experience or certification.
NIRSA professional registry.
Proficiency in the use of Workday Canvas Engage Fusion and/or other platforms/applications.
