Job Description
Assistant (or Associate) Professor of Psychology
Lyon College invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position. The appointment may be at the Assistantor Associate Professor level depending on the successful candidates established record of excellence inteaching research and service. The position will begin in August 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join adynamic growing institution committed to developing an entrepreneurial focus in the current business andeconomics curriculum inspiring curiosity and fostering critical and deep thinking in a liberal arts salary range is $55000 to $65000 depending on a candidates experience.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in cognitive studies or a closely related subdiscipline (ABD will be considered).
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is highly preferred.
Successful candidates should have a desire to work at a small liberal arts college as well asfamiliarity with and enthusiasm for liberal arts education.
A commitment to liberal arts education is essential.
A strong commitment to student advising and mentorship.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A record of or potential for scholarly activity and professional engagement in the field.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
Engage in a 21 loadhour 3/4 teaching schedule and teach inperson courses needed by the discipline division and college which may include introductory and advanced courses in cognitive psychology and related areas. and possibly other related courses in the candidates areas of expertise.
Contribute to the Colleges robust academic culture by engaging in appropriate scholarly activity and where possible involving and mentoring students in that agenda. Other support to students may include advising or coadvising student clubs or advising teams in student competitions.
Participate in departmental and collegewide service activities including committee work advisingpsychology majors; and appropriate recruiting curricular development and assessment efforts.
Engage in service beyond the campus.
