Your role:

As a Bioinformatician I within our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) group in our Rockville Maryland facility your role is to design develop and implement a range of bioinformatics/data analysis applications tailored to the full range of genomics service offerings.

Your primary responsibilities will be to provide core bioinformatics computational data analysis and technical (programming/pipeline development) functions supporting a range of genomicsbased e.g.next generation) testing services. You will liaise closely with management and the bioinformatics teams as well as the end users (including support staff) to understand needs and requirements. You will be expected to lead by example and work collaboratively to advance the application of NGS in the field of biosafety testing.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in information technologies computer sciences bioinformatics or a scientific discipline (i.e. Chemistry Biology etc. OR Masters degree in information technologies computer sciences bioinformatics or a scientific discipline (i.e. Chemistry Biology etc. with 2 years work experience OR Bachelors degree in information technologies computer sciences bioinformatics or a scientific discipline (i.e. Chemistry Biology etc. with 5 years work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with developing comprehensive data analysis tools using Perl Python R and/or other related programming languages
• Experience with complex shell commands in LINUX operating systems (e.g. awk sedetc.
• Experience with applying statistical methods for quantitative interpretation of large data sets.
• Experience working with software version control systems (git/bitbucket preferred)
• Experience working in a testdriven environment
• Effective oral and written communication skills including drafting standard operating procedures user requirements design specifications software lifecycle documentation etc.
• Ability to interpret and summarize scientific results in a clear concise and accurate manner
• Ability to work under minimal supervision with excellent time management
• Ability to handle multiple highcomplexity projects simultaneously
