Job Summary
The Cancer Biostatistics Shared Resource CBSR at Huntsman Cancer Institute HCI of the University of Utah is seeking a MS statistician to carry out statistical analyses in collaboration with cancer investigators. We are a group of biostatisticians in Cancer Biostatistics Shared Resource CBSR engaged in a wide range of collaborations from basic science highdimensional multiomics data analyses translational research epidemiology studies biomarker selection to clinical trials at HCI . We interact with other data scientists bioinformaticians statisticians epidemiologists psychometricians health economists survey design researchers and systematic review experts within the campus. Focus research areas include although not limited to the design of clinical trials observational studies longitudinal analysis survival analysis epidemiologic modeling Bayesian analysis modern causal inference biomarkers analyses statistical genetics and genomics computational statistics methods for the design and conduct of systematic reviews structural equations models and mutiomics analyses. Participates as a key contributor and coauthor in the preparation and submission of grants manuscripts and presentations 3. Provides statistical leadership within the Department. These responsibilities may vary based on current needs or opportunities identified but may include teaching supervision of other staff mentoring others in the research process or developing own methodological research 4. Provides statistical analysis programming including completion of descriptive and inferential analyses and the interpretation of results 5. Reviews data for discrepancies interact with data managers and create analysis datasets 6. Conforms to statistical programming and analysis standards and assists in the development of standards and contribute to process improvement 7. Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of an MS degree in statistics biostatistics or a related field and ten or more years of relevant experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Candidates must be an expert in the application of a wide range of basic and advanced statistical techniques and be able to independently learn and apply new statistical techniques. Expert knowledge of both analysis and dataset programming in at least one statistical programming language such as SAS or R is required. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint); An ability to work on several projects simultaneously and manage deadlines and; Good communication skills including the ability to clearly explain statistical techniques and present data results are also required.
