Application Engineer--Varicent Sales Compensation Management

The AWS Sales Compensation Management (SCM) team is looking for an experienced Application Engineer to play a key role in expanding the capabilities of our missioncritical Sales Compensation Management (SCM) application. In addition to requiring a high level of technical expertise this role is about understanding the needs of the business and knowhow to transform this information into technical solutions that allow the business to make swift informed decisions. Ideal candidates will have expertise in all phases of application development life cycle in building models that scale over time while balancing accuracy flexibility and speed. The successful candidate will be passionate about their work selfmotivated detail oriented and have excellent problem solving abilities. They will deal with highly ambiguous problems take responsibility for finding solutions and will drive towards simple solutions to complex problems. Experience in a Sales Compensation Management tool like Varicent Callidus Xactly Spiff etc. is preferred.

Key job responsibilities
Work with various functions and end users to identify document and communicate standard business processes.
Deliver reliable scalable and efficient applications managing all phases of the development life cycle including requirements gathering modeling & design development testing deployment integration and documentation.
Work with crossfunctional teams to develop solutions that accelerate cycle times alleviate cumbersome manual processes and ensure results are accurate.
Identify process improvement opportunities to drive innovation.
Earn Trust of Others. Engage with many internal AWS teams building relationships and helping identify existing components and technologies that can be leveraged to deliver on our goals.

AWS Sales Marketing and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue adoption and growth from the largest and fastest growing small and midmarket accounts to enterpriselevel customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that worldclass support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building missioncritical applications on top of AWS services.


Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
5 years previous experience implementing endtoend sales performance management solutions including system configuration model building data security and reporting.
Experience implementing enterpriselevel applications for Sales Compensation Management (IBM Varicent Xactly Optymyze etc.

Masters degree in Information Systems Computer Science Electrical Engineer or related discipline.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2 and S3 and advanced knowledge of SQL Oracle OLAP and data warehousing concepts. Experience in JAVA/Python/Perl scripting language.
Experience working with largescale complex datasets
Experience developing visualizations and dashboards.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
