POSITION PURPOSE: The Therapist in Residence (TIR) program at SCU places professionally trained mental health clinicians into residence halls to address the mental health needs of residents and support Residence Life Staff. This proactive collaborative effort between Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Office of Residence Life (ORL) seeks to increase the daytoday service activities awareness availability and access to counseling decrease barriers to accessing mental health support and reduce the stigma associated with mental health services.
The Therapist in Residence administers onsite and easily accessed consultation and mental health support programs and services including brief assessment and discussion of resources afterhours consultations and crisis intervention with the goal of referring students to other resources on campus.
The Therapist in Residence works closely with the Cowell Center Outreach Coordinator and Case Manager and is responsible for the implementation of Mental Health First Aid training for the campus.
