Position Summary:
Manages and directs the operations of a Gordon Food Service warehouse.
Essential Functions:
Develops and implements policies and procedures for various warehouse activities including verification of incoming and outgoing shipments handling and disposition of materials and maintenance of current inventory.
Performs inspections of physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Prepares work orders for repairs or requisitions for replacement of equipment.
Collaborates with department heads in the coordination of warehouse activities with other functions including production sales records control and purchasing.
Monitors KPIs. Communicates major concerns regarding workforce issues equipment systems or policies with recommendations for resolution.
Collaborates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
Provides leadership ensures adherence to GFS policies and procedures and applies corrective action when required.
Interviews hires train and retain staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors motivates and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
Develops capital and operational budget for the department. Routinely monitors manages and controls budget analyzes variances and takes appropriate action and develops plans for productivity improvements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Must have good written verbal organizational and communication skills as well as problemsolving capabilities.
Must have ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.
Must have the ability to multitask prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
Must be able to perform fundamental mathematical functions including concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Must be able to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity and reference policies and practices for guidance.
Knowledge of spreadsheet word processing presentation email and internet software applications.
Broad knowledge of warehousing operations material handling and compliance
Must have a basic understanding of DOT OSHA EEOC and other related regulatory agencies and laws
