About the Opportunity

The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a nontenure track part time faculty lecturer at Balfour Academy.

Balfour Academy at Northeastern University was founded in 1983. Balfour helps Boston students obtain the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in college. To reach this goal Balfour Academy provides a summer program of enrichment courses to supplement each students regular school program. We are seeking certified teachers to teach courses for Balfour Academys summer program.

We are seeking certified teachers to teach courses for Balfour Academys summer program in one of the following content areas:

  • College Readiness 79th Grade
  • Science 79th Grade
  • English 79th Grade
  • Math 79th Grade
  • Collegeth Grade
  • Math 1012th Grade SAT
  • English 1012th Grade SAT
  • Sociology of Food
  • Ethics
  • Public Speaking
  • Food & Culture

Northeastern University will not provide H1B TN O1 E3 or any other type of employment visa sponsorship for the successful applicant to this position now or in the future. Furthermore the successful applicant must be able to maintain valid work authorization in the United States throughout the entire appointment without Northeastern Universitys sponsorship for a visa.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create appropriate curriculum and activities.
  • Assign and correct daily written work.
  • Assist students in improving skills.
  • Coordinate and supervise teaching assistants.
  • Attend afternoon faculty workshops and weekly staff meetings.
  • Assist Director and Assistant Director with midterm and final evaluations of students.
  • Contact students parents to discuss performance as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in teaching students from various Boston communities between grades 7 through 12.
