Commercial Legal Counsel

Key objectives

The key objective of the role is to provide legal support to a wide range of departments including in particular Centre Operations Marketing and Events Westfield Rise and Community Engagement.

What you will be doing

• Drafting and negotiating of a wide range of commercial agreements including: Service Agreements MSAs brand partnership agreements mediarelated agreements marketing and eventsrelated agreements filming licences and professional appointments.

• Advising and providing support to different business units including Centre Operations IT Community Engagement Marketing Events and Westfield Rise.

• Managing and maintaining the IP portfolio for the UK business.

• Maintaining good reporting and status updates on workloads through the use of Smartsheets

• Managing external legal advisors and legal costs budgeting processes

• Supporting and liaising with the Data Protection representative on data protection issues and ongoing GDPR compliance relevant to commercial agreements

• Prepare supporting document packs (including legal reports and corporate seals) and issue commercial agreements on DocuSign for .

• Advising senior stakeholders on legal risks in relation to their projects and finding innovative solutions to manage and mitigate such risks.

• Updating and maintaining the inhouse commercial contract precedents database.

• Providing legal team training to the business including the drafting of playbooks and plug and play options as required.

What skills experience and knowledge will you need to be successful

• Experience inhouse / previous secondment preferable.

• PQE ideally 4 to 7 years

• Broad commercial experience and an enthusiasm for and willingness to understand the business of managing retail centres

• Ability to work independently manage a varied portfolio of work and ability to prioritise workloads.

• Strong verbal and written communications and project management skills required

• Strong team player working closely with colleagues in the Legal Team (both UK and other jurisdictions) and crossfunctionally with teams across the business

• Excellent softskills with an ability to manage different stakeholders
