QUINCY SCHOOL DISTRICT
ELA SECONDARY INSTRUCTIONAL COACH & READING INTERVENTIONIST

Supervisor: Director of Teaching & Learning & Building Principal

Location: Quincy School District
Conditions 1.0 FTE/ 180 days

Salary Range: QEA Salary Schedule

SUMMARY:

The position of the ELA Secondary Instructional Coach & Reading Interventionist

is to support building and district staff in the implementation of ELA standards and curriculum effective practices and interventions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Model effective instructional practices and provide support for building staff through classroom observations and feedback.
  • Ensure teachers have a deep understanding of the Common Core Standards ELA
  • Support curriculum implementation framework creation and implementation
  • Support common assessment development implementation and data analysis
  • Be available for discussions with parents and staff regarding programs and intervention support opportunities.
  • Coplan and facilitate collaborative planning time in service of departmental and student growth goals.
  • Work closely with teachers and the principal to assess needs and student data and plan for appropriate intervention.
  • Serve as Building Induction Coach under BEST Grant and directly responsible for supporting new teachers
  • Perform related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
  • Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to keep confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate.
  • Develops lesson plans along with instructional materials to provide individual and group support in acquiring and building literacy skills.
  • Establishes course goals and objectives in conformation with District and State statutes regulations and guidelines; evaluates students academic and social growth using data; keeps appropriate records regularly monitors progress; and implements interventions.
  • Regularly attends and participates in all staff meetings committees professional development and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching and Learning and the building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State Teacher Certificate endorsed in English Language Arts or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in ELA in grades 612
  • Worked in 912 high school setting within last two years
  • Have experience with knowledge of and skill in supporting colleagues and new teachers utilizing coaching/mentoring strategies.
  • Willingness to apply a variety of instructional theories and models.
  • Ongoing professional development activities such as college course work professional associations workshops and inservice.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations and possess great human relations and interpersonal skills and take initiative when necessary.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
