THE POSITION
The Social Worker I classification is a part of athreelevel flexibly staffed series of the Social Worker Worker Is will provide clients with social services of a specializednature including protective and supportive casework services to in these classifications do not have caseload standards. Thisclassification is distinguished from the next higher one of Social Worker II inthat the former class is an entrylevel Social Worker who is closely supervisedin performing the duties of the position and receives onthejob training forsix 6 months by a Social Work Supervisor or higherlevel manager in theSocial Services Agency or a firstline supervisor or higherlevel manager inthe Alameda County Health.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

THE VACANCIES
We are currently recruiting for vacancies in the SocialServices Agency. However the eligible list resulting from this recruitment maybe used by any County department or agency needing to fill a vacancy.
EITHER I
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college oruniversity 180 quarter units or 120 semester units) which includes 30semester or 45 quarter units in social welfare social/human services publichealth sociology psychology clinical psychology counseling or otherbehavioral science.
OR II
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a two 2)year accreditedcollege 90 quarter units or 60semester units) which includes fifteen 15)semester or twentytwo 22 quarter units in social welfare social/humanservices public health sociology psychology clinical psychologycounseling or other behavioral science
AND
Experience:
The equivalent of one 1 year of fulltime experience asan Eligibility Services Technician II Community Outreach Worker II orequivalent or higherlevel classification in the Alameda County classifiedservice.
OR
Experience:
The equivalent of two 2 years of fulltime socialcasework experience working in a recognized public or nonprofit socialservices health or human services agency.
License:
All positions require possession of a valid CaliforniaMotor Vehicle Operators license.
Special Requirements:
Fluency in Spanish Cantonese Mandarin Farsi TagalogVietnamese or Cambodian is desirable.

The examination will consist of the following steps:
1.A review of applicants applicationsandsupplemental questionnaires to verify possession of minimumrequirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements forthe class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
2.A written examination that will be weightedas pass/fail.
3.An oral interview which will be weightedas100 of the candidates final examination score. The oralinterview may contain situational exercises.
Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on eachportion of this examination.
