Job Description

It is acknowledged that Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls over 25000 students (including approximately 3200 students who selfidentify as having First Nations Metis and/or Inuit ancestry from Canada). Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland West Kelowna Kelowna and Lake Country. There are a total of 50 school sites with 32 Elementary Schools 8 Middle schools 5 Secondary Schools 3 Learning Centres an Alternate Education School and an Online Learning School (K12. Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23 in Kelowna BC invites applications from dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators for full year full time and part time temporary contracts.

Elementary School Counsellors

Applicants must have:

  • a professional teaching certificate;
  • a minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience;
  • a masters degree recognized by the Teacher Regulation Branch in counselling psychology (or a related discipline with a focus in counselling);
  • training and/or experience as an Elementary School Counsellor as per School District Policy #510 and #510R;


Preference will be given to those applicants who:

  • have both training and experience as a School Counsellor;
  • have experience with grades K6 age groupings;
  • have Indigenousancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal).
