Federal Work Study Student Receptionist

Job Description:

The School of Music (SOM) in the College of the Arts seeks a student assistant to join the department as a receptionist. Studentemployees who hold this position often serve as a first point of contact for the public guests prospective and incoming students and SOM faculty & staff. In addition to providing coverage of the SOM reception area our new colleague will assist SOM faculty and staff with other projects assigned according to area needs. The successful candidate will be a student assistant that has a Federal Work Study Award and have evidence of organizational ability diligence and dependability.

The student(s) in the receptionist position will be eligible to work up to 1015 hours per week for the academic year during weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM. The student(s) will report to the SOM Executive Assistant.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING APPLICATION:
This position is for the academic year (AugustMay). It is not a summer position.
This position is only open to UF students with Federal Work Study funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Reply to and direct calls addressing inquiries and messages appropriately and accurately.
  • Greet all visitors to the School of Music directing or aiding guests as needed.
  • Review/sign for packages sort and deliver incoming mail assist in processing outgoing mail.
  • Restock office supplies for front work area
  • Break down boxes for recycling; empty paper shredder as needed
  • Maintain and troubleshoot printers in the School including replenishing paper basic unjamming and replacing toner
  • Manage printing scanning faxing and filing of School documents invoices (Mister Paper & Target Copy) and program archives.
  • Coordinate package pick ups by emailing faculty staff and students
  • Help with monitoring 130C workroom
  • Support the executive assistant with inquiries related to practice rooms.
  • Other duties as assigned by department.
Expected Salary:

$14 hourly

Minimum Requirements:
  • Federal Work Study award required valid Award Summary Page confirming Federal Work Study
  • Evidence of organizational ability diligence and dependability
  • Availability to work a consistent weekly schedule on weekdays (Mondays Fridays) during regular work hours: 8 AM to 5 PM. Hours will be tailored according to the students class schedule within a MONFRI 8am5pm workweek. Schedule and hours may be divided in any way mutually agreeable among all workers.
Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring to the position:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook Word Excel).
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in secretarial clerical and/or customer service.
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism curiosity open discourse and the wellbeing of all.
