The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help us

Keep Alaska Moving!



What you will be doing:

As a member of the maintenance crew this position is responsible for a diverse range of tasks related to the upkeep of state highways and airports within the district. Duties include operating and servicing both heavy and lightduty equipment as well as maintaining vegetation traffic signs barricades fences bridges culverts drainage structures bike paths and road surfaces within the State RightofWay. The position requires shift work and involves operating 8yard dump trucks equipped with sander units. Responsibilities also include conducting winter snow plowing hauling aggregate materials performing snow removal using snow blowers and utilizing loaders for material loading and snow dump operations. In addition the operator is tasked with employing steam boilers for thawing drainage structures. Furthermore the role involves performing traffic control duties including flagging and operating all equipment required by an Equipment Operator Journey 2.

COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
Pursuant to revised federal regulations 49 CFR 383 effective April 1 1992 Commercial Driver Licenses (CDL) will be required of all commercial drivers who operate certain types of vehicles. An Alaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A is required to perform the duties of this position.

A conditional hire approvalcan only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee mustsuccessfully obtain NTanker and Hazmat endorsements within90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.


DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required PreEmployment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
