Job Description

  • Education:
    • A Masters degree mechanical or aerospace engineering or a closely related field is required.
    • A terminal degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or closely related field (requirement to teach graduate courses) is preferred.
  • Experience
    • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
    • Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities is preferred.

Tentative Search Timeline

This is an evergreen Lecturer Pool for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCCS. Applications will be reviewed on a semesterbysemester basis as business needs arise.

  • Priority Application Dates: Applications submitted by the following dates will receive priority consideration:
    • Fall Semester: May 1
    • Spring Semester: October 1
    • Summer Semester: March 1
  • Interview Dates: Candidates whose qualifications match specific course openings may be contacted for interviews at any time as hiring needs arise.
  • Potential Start Dates: Employment start dates will vary based on course scheduling needs and will align with the start of the relevant academic semester.

Because this appointment is temporary in nature you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to faculty under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs. You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave medical or retirement benefits. However you are eligible to accrue sick leave at 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.

The UCCS Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department (MAE) is a growing department and is the second largest department in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. MAE offers multiple degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels designed to rigorously educate engineering students and to prepare them for careers in industry or academia.

Explore the Mechanical and Aerospace Department and undergraduate and graduate degrees including mechanical engineering and a minor in aerospace engineering: Range: Generally starting at $4000 $5000 per 3credit hour course. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience qualifications and teaching assignments. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Work Location: Determined by course modality: Oncampus (typically) online or hybrid. Remote teaching opportunities may be available under certain conditions.

Summary

The College of Engineering and Applied Scienceat the University of Colorado Colorado Springs hiresLecturersinMechanical and Aerospace Engineeringfor temporary nontenure track positions to fill open sections of courses across the curriculum. Appointments are parttime (usually less than 50 time) and will be made semesterbysemester.

Lecturers will teach classes for the department of department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Classes may be oncampus online or hybrid. Courses may be at either graduate or undergraduate levels and can cover any of the broad spectrum of topic areas in both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.
