ABOUT THE ROLE
The Environmental Manager is a member of the SC Johnson Global Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) governance team. This global role spans across all business units and their respective manufacturing sites distribution centers research and development labs and administrative offices where SCJ employees are located. This is an individual contributor role.
As Manager you will lead the development and deployment of robust global enterprisewide standards tools and training designed to support safe healthy and compliant workplaces. You will oversee and coach to the larger SHE Community of Practice to deliver SCJohnsons safety health environmental and sustainability commitments. In addition to your deep environmental technical knowledge and experience success is equally dependent on you proactively developing and supporting champions within the organization to drive daytoday ownership for SHE.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the development and maintenance of SC Johnsons global environmental management standards associated with air emissions waste wastewater and stormwater to effectively manage conditions and behaviors that can cause adverse environmental impacts or potential regulatory nonconformances.
Leads the enterprisewide hazardous and nonhazardous waste transporter and disposable compliance audit process.
Serves as a headquarters SHE liaison to the SCJ Global Sustainability team to support enterprisewide practices associated with the management of carbon waste and water impacts to deliver the companys sustainability commitments.
Provides environmental regulatory compliance technical support for the Corporate New Ventures RD&E and Global Facilities organizations.
Serves as the companys subject matter expert on environmental remediation matters.
Manages standard work processes including service provider negotiations and contracts associated with the use of thirdparty environmental and sustainability service providers and completion of technical reviews for draft reports and partners with stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of applicable thirdparty recommendations.
Verifies the accuracy of environmental and sustainability data in the companys SHE database (e.g. Entropy) and analyzes the data to identify loss trends that can contribute to adverse environmental impacts regulatory noncompliance or environmental management system nonconformances.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Civil Engineering Chemical Engineering or related discipline
7 years of progressively responsible SHE technical experience in a global manufacturing environment
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Advanced degree in Environmental Science Engineering or related discipline preferred
Experience in the consumer packaged goods chemical or pharmaceutical industries
Experience in driving daytoday ownership of SHE processes to nonSHE program champions
Ability to interact with others establishing open candid and trusting relationships to create win/win outcomes
Effective written and verbal communication skills that permit the clear and concise transfer of information to stakeholders
Project management experience to enable prioritization and management of multiple projects to completion
JOB REQUIREMENTS
This position is located at our Racine Headquarters offices
Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
Up to 25 domestic and international travel may be required
This position is eligible for domestic relocation
