ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1965 the ChineseAmerican Planning Council Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American immigrant and lowincome communities. Today CPC is the nations largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City including early childhood education schoolage care youth services workforce development community services and senior services. CPC strives to be the premier social service and leadership development organization. In 2017 CPC launched Advancing Our CommUNITY its organizationwide strategy to expand services to address persistent needs and emerging trends and to improve leadership skills among staff and community members. In 2022 our core programs and emergency services reached 200000 people living in all five boroughs and all 51 city council districts. In the summer of 2022 CPC was recognized as the number one Chinese American organization in New York City to recommend to a Chinese immigrant looking for inlanguage and culturally competent resources according to a recent survey. Founded in 1972 Open Door is a community center which provides services to more than 600 members aged 60 and above daily. The goal of CPC Open Door Older Adult Center is to provide to the elder communities muchneeded programs in the areas of social service nutrition and meals education and recreation in a safe and welcoming space located in Chinatown. Educational recreational and cultural activities/workshops promote an active and healthy lifestyle for seniors assisting them emotionally mentally and physically. Open Doors case management provides oneonone assistance in benefits entitlements translation/interpretation services and/or social support for community members and their families. Our program provides healthy and balanced daily meals for seniors which meets the Department for the Agings (DFTA) nutritional requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

The Database Manager will oversee and maintain the programs electronic databases. The Database Manager will also provide support with case management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate activities supervise and evaluate the Social Service/Casework staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee case management/case assistance and administrative duties as so designated by the Director.
  • Be involved in the development of program resources.
  • Input all Case Assistance data in the electronic database: Senior Tracking Analysis and Reporting System (STARS) and PeerPlace.
  • Review case records case notes and worker logs and sign off on case plans.
  • Represent agency in community and interagency activities.
  • Assist with developing community outreach plans.
  • Assist in the overall administration of the program and activities under the general supervision of the Director.
  • Oversee program administrative and supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Director.
  • Prepare and submit accident/incidents reports to the Department for Aging (DFTA).
  • Assist with the reinforcement of DFTA rules and regulations
  • Attend DFTA Trainings

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Counseling or related service plus computer literature.
  • One year of Social Work experience with Counseling Psychology or Gerontology is a plus.
  • Must be able to complete various DFTA & DOH certifications upon hire.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Efficient operation of office equipment such as fax machines copiers and phone systems as well as knowledge and proficiency in the use of technology (i.e. computers Word processing database spreadsheet programs and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform clerical and administrative tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and organize and the casework.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to meet strict timelines and perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to accomplish work responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

  • $22.00 $23.16 per hour; 35 hours per week with occasional evenings
