Job Description

Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Dean the Director of Career Development participates in the development and implementation of career and internship services that provide undergraduate and graduate students in the College for Community Health (CCHL) with opportunities to explore develop and enhance their career readiness through handson experiences and connections with employers university partners and university faculty and staff. This role promotes career education and internship offerings that are student centered responsive and supportive to the diverse identities of students and reflective of market demands. The Director works collaboratively with other Directors in the Colleges Student Success Center to support CCHL students.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning goal setting and reporting of career education and professional development outcomes for undergraduate and graduate students in the College.

  • Manage the career and internship services operation in the Student Success Center to ensure efficient timely and effective programs and services to its users including the supervision and management of staff.

  • Manage the collection analysis and reporting on metrics of job market outlook in relevant industries and collect data on the impact of programming student engagement and alumni employment outcomes. Ensure that activities are aligned with strategic goals and priorities.

  • Collaborate with departments in advising students on a wide range of career preparation strategies including career and selfassessment decisionmaking processes experiential education (i.e. internships and cooperative education) job search strategies and competencybased professional development. Work with departments to provide professional development opportunities.

  • Provide oversight of the Assistant Director in their work of coordinating the administration of internship services for the College.

  • Work crossfunctionally to develop and promote programming aligned with undergraduate and graduate student success academic programs goals interests of employers and workbased learning opportunities.

  • Collaborate with key campus stakeholders including the Office for Experiential Education and Career Connection to develop recommend and execute programming and professional development programs tailored to the needs of the Colleges undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Work with the faculty of specific academic programs/majors to design career development initiatives specific to those programs offerings; serve as the point of contact for recruiters/employers to align their needs with our offerings. Evaluate the impact and outcome of initiatives and partnerships.

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the Colleges career development platforms.

  • Develop a userfriendly and reliable system for ongoing collection and analysis of student employment data; evaluation and assessment of student outcomes of career services programming; and alumni career outcomes.

  • Use research on industry trends for actionable practices (programs services partnerships etc. and communicate these trends to key stakeholders to inform strategic direction on student career outcomes and professional growth

  • Collaborate with the Deans Office to develop promotional materials to promote resources and opportunities for students and alumni on the website and social media platforms.

  • Develop organize and execute campusbased career development and success programming (e.g. career fairs recruitment networking resume prep and job search preparation events) with employers organizations and other external stakeholders. Ability to travel to various potential employer partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

  • Minimum four years of professional experience in career development.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to serve students from diverse backgrounds and work in a community with values of diversity equity and social justice.

  • Ability to travel to various potential employer partners and work some evenings and weekends.

  • Knowledge of career exploration trends frameworks and technologies.

  • Experience supervising staff or leading a team.

PREFERRED:

  • Ability to thrive in a serviceoriented collaborative environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan coordinate and execute events presentations and programs.

  • Actively engage with careerrelated professional associations research and latest employment data.

  • Commitment to serve students from diverse backgrounds and work in a community with values of diversity equity and social justice.
