Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

To manage the event security program for campus. Assist with emergency and nonemergency events including but not limited to event security budget administration personnel information systems general office management training and policy development.

Campus Security Authority: This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law the employee is required to report any crimes that he/she becomes aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

Level Scope:

Spends the majority of time 50 or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Establishes departmental goals and objectives functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human financial and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls with a focus on policy and strategy implementation. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets and requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the of processes projects and tactics within one area.

Essential Functions:

Oversee the daytoday management of the parttime event security program including recruitment hiring training and scheduling of staff for athletic events campus events alcohol compliance and fire watch duties.
Oversee scheduling training and performance of parttime event security staff for football games athletic events alcohol compliance fire watch duties and other campus events.
Ensure compliance with university policies safety protocols and eventspecific procedures for parttime security personnel.
Manage the scheduling and assignment of parttime security personnel to ensure adequate coverage for all events including athletic events concerts and other campus activities.
Provide regular feedback to parttime staff conduct performance reviews and implement coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program tailored to parttime security personnel covering eventspecific security needs alcohol compliance and emergency response protocols.
Oversee the budget related to the parttime event security program including tracking personnel costs purchasing necessary equipment and managing inventory control for uniforms radios and other resources.
Serve as the main point of contact for parttime event security staff ensuring clear communication of responsibilities event details and emergency procedures.
Coordinate with internal and external partners such as Athletics and campus event organizers to ensure that security needs are met and that parttime personnel are adequately trained for each event.
Respond to campus emergencies during events ensuring that parttime staff follow proper procedures and work in coordination with fulltime security personnel and external law enforcement if necessary.
Ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism from parttime security staff when interacting with event attendees faculty staff and the general public.
Additional Departmental Responsibilities 35 of time):
Develop and maintain personnel files including certifications training records and performance reviews.
Ensure staff are properly trained in safety protocols fire watch procedures and alcohol compliance measures for all events.
Collaborate with Athletics and campus event organizers to assess security needs and ensure proper staffing levels for events.
Manage the evaluation process for parttime security staff providing feedback on performance and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor compliance with university policies safety standards and security procedures during campus events.
May perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Good knowledge of the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System principles and concepts.
Experience training others in securityrelated topics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detailoriented and highly organized with strong analytical skills.
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to manage conflict.
Ability to collaborate with faculty staff students and other various personnel/agencies.
Ability to respond appropriately and in a timely manner to emergency situations.
Ability to create and manage budgets create reports and present findings.
Ability to supervise evaluate educate and train others.
Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters and information.

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent plus 5 years experience including 1 year management experience.

Currently certified in First Aid/CPR/AED (or ability to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications:

At least two years experience in security planning and management within a higher education institution.
Familiarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $58905.60 to $64168.00 annually and is commensurate with State University provides a bestinclassbenefits package including (but not limited to):
