Role and Responsibilities:
Are you passionate about cooking and working in a fastpaced kitchen environment Were looking for a Line Cook to join our dynamic team at LaSalle Market! As a key member of our kitchen staff youll help prepare and cook delicious dishes while ensuring highquality standards.
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes ensuring high standards of quality taste and presentation.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills fryers stoves and ovens to cook and prepare food quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure timely preparation of orders in a fastpaced environment keeping track of special requests and dietary restrictions.
- Assist with inventory control by restocking supplies as needed and ensuring kitchen items are organized and ready for use.
- Keep workstations kitchen tools and equipment clean and sanitized following food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely delivery of orders.
- Ensure the consistency of food quality portion sizes and presentation meeting the cafs standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to kitchen operations including proper handling of kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff and frontofhouse team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or as a line cook.
- Basic understanding of food safety practices such as proper food handling cleaning and sanitation.
- Proficient in cooking techniques and the ability to prepare a variety of dishes in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong focus on food quality presentation and portion control.
- Ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining a calm and positive attitude.
- Willingness to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Culinary training or relevant certifications.
- Possess Food Safety Certification such as ServSafe or similar food safety training.
- Proficiency in using kitchen knives safely and effectively for prepping ingredients.
- Strong eye for food plating and attention to detail in the visual appeal of each dish.
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions (e.g. glutenfree vegetarian vegan) and the ability to accommodate specific customer needs.
- Clear communication with fellow kitchen staff and frontofhouse team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- The job requires physical endurance including standing walking and performing tasks at a consistent pace throughout shifts.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs including bags of ingredients food containers and kitchen equipment.
- Frequent use of hands for tasks like chopping stirring and operating kitchen equipment.
- Ability to bend stoop and reach to access ingredients kitchen tools or restock items in cabinets or refrigerators.
- Exposure to hot temperatures from ovens stoves fryers and grills as well as cold temperatures from refrigerators and freezers.
- Kitchen environments can be noisy due to the operation of equipment conversation among staff and the sounds of cooking.
- Must adhere to hygiene and food safety standards including cleaning cooking stations handling food properly and maintaining a safe work environment.
