Job Description

I. POSITION PURPOSE

The School of Law Website Development Manager will serve a key role in managing the law schools website infrastructure providing guidance on technical issues and supporting its cybersecurity on a daily operational basis. The Website Development Manager will oversee the functionality of the law schools website evaluate and manage website performance facilitate hosting and server management and develop maintain and update website content. The Website Development Manager will oversee the migration of the law schools website from its existing WordPress platform to the T4 website platform which will bring the law school into alignment with the Universitys main website platform and best practices. Working closely with all law school departmental stakeholders the Website Development Manager will participate as a core team member of the law schools website refresh project to design and develop the law schools web architecture taking into account all existing content on the law schools website and reimagining and updating it with an eye toward effective marketing to and engagement with the law schools primary audiences.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Oversee web projects from conception to implementation

  • Plan implement manage monitor and organize the law schools overall website and related law department web pages.

  • Plan implement and manage updates to the law schools content management systems website refreshes redesigns and/or content migrations.

B. Develop implement and manage the law schools website architecture.

  • Design and develop frontend and backend web architecture

  • Develop servers and databases as needed.

  • Create user interactions on web pages.

  • Create and maintain online applications/APIs e.g. for Workday Camino LiveWhale Qualtrix and other relevant university application interfaces.

C. Collaborate with the law schools information services team to ensure the proper cybersecurity

  • Respond to and troubleshoot all law school website issues.

  • Identify and respond to all law school website security breaches.

  • Ensure that the law schools website is protected by exploring and enabling the appropriate security measures.

  • Update HTML CSS and JavaScript regularly.

D. Serve as a resource to law school offices and departments web page owners and content creators

  • Meet periodically with law school partners in order to develop an annual schedule of digital content projects.

  • Create appropriate website content aligned with the law schools website strategy.

  • Assist with the creation of event pages and email templates to complement printed collateral.

  • Integrate print publications into a digital format including but not limited to the law schools DISCERN magazine and admissions viewbook.

  • Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant duplicate and outdated information.

  • Serve as the point of contact to regularly communicate content development and publishing schedule and updates.

  • Serve as the liaison between University Relations and law school partners for initiation and training on content development and publishing platforms.

E. Collaborate with original content creators the Director of Marketing & Communications University Webmasters/Website Managers Law Information Technology University Information Services and graphic and digital designers to update website architecture and interface to enhance the overall look feel and functionality of the website

  • Stay current on industry developments as well as best and captivating website design practices.

  • Collect analyze and regularly report on website usage data.

  • Ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.

  • Develop and facilitate user feedback and research to support ongoing improvements to website navigation architecture and interface as well as the overall user experience of the website.

F. Develop and maintain digital strategies to reflect the School of Laws overall marketing position and identity and to promote a unified image of the law school that is grounded in the law schools vision and goals.

  • Work with original content creators the Director of Marketing & Communications and graphic and digital designers to enhance the overall look and feel of the website and grow/improve web traffic metrics.

  • Maintain consistency in the Law Schools brand and image across the website.

  • Work with the University to align the School of Law web identity with the overall University standards and guidelines.

  • Monitor all website content for search engine optimization.

  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and monitor competitor websites.

III. QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge skills abilities education and experience required or preferred. This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.

A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 56 years experience required and 23 years related work experience as a web developer/manager.

  • Must be familiar with different content management systems including but not limited to Word Press T4 Macromedia suite Adobe suite and W3C Web Standards.

  • Must be fluent in Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS).

  • Highly proficient in HTML XHTML CSS design crossbrowser and crossplatform compatibility firewalls (functionality and maintenance) Access mySQL and JavaScript.

  • Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and editing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Outstanding problemsolving skills and ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fastpaced environment.

B. Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science information technology systems engineering or related field

  • Excellent knowledge of web development disciplines

  • A creative thinker with an analytical mind
