Location/Division Specific Information

The NPI Manufacturing Engineering Engineer III will play a critical role at Thermo Fisher Scientifics Electrical Fault Analysis (EFA) business unit located in Richardson Texas. Our factories produce lowvolume high complexity analytical products for semiconductor designers and manufacturers to use in the creation and improvement of their products and manufacturing processes.

How will you make an impact

You will be part of a diverse team responsible for the successful introduction of new products into the factory and field. You will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of products and the processes used for manufacturing and service. This role collaborates closely with the Product Lifecycle Management Product Marketing New Product Development Manufacturing Logistics Purchasing Quality Finance and Global Technical Support groups to ensure the development of sustainable products according to the latest quality standards at lowest COGS. Throughout the lifecycle of our products the Operations Engineering team implements quality cost and process improvements to increase customer satisfaction.

What will you do

  • Define requirements for manufacturability serviceability and reliability software test and diagnostics (TAD)
  • Work closely with R&D to drive service and factory requirements in all phases of the Product Management Process (PMP)
  • Drive Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on behalf of operations for all new products
  • Define Bill of Materials (BOM) structure and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for new products
  • Create test assembly installation and service procedures for factory and field from initial product builds and validations
  • Define and integrate factory and service test equipment
  • Train Manufacturing Factory Support and Service personnel in new product build test install and repair procedures
  • Resolve issues in the factory or field with shortterm and longterm corrective actions with the appropriate functional groups to achieve resolution. Drive followup actions to ensure issues are resolved
  • Supports field service engineers with first installs and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure proper working order. This may require travel to various customer locations worldwide to support installations and upgrades
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with Product Lifecycle Management Factory Support Engineering Field Service GTS Applications R&D and Operations personnel
  • Use Thermo Fisher Scientifics Practical Process Improvement (PPI) tools to lead or facilitate productivity s reduction process improvement and cost improvement projects using data driven analysis
  • Contribute to EFA Operations Engineering strategy

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required Applied Physics Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in hightech industry environment in service development or manufacturing
  • Able to troubleshoot manage and maintain complex electromechanical systems
  • Experience with FMEA Design for Manufacturability Design for Assembly and Design of Experiments
  • Proven track record in effectively managing projects related to capital equipment improvements with collaboration across various teams.
  • Experience in bringing technology solutions to improving the quality efficiency and cost of manufacturing and service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of key technologies including vacuum motion control process automation optics and material selection
  • Achieves results with decisiveness and engineering judgment even under difficult situations
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required.
