The Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) Engineering organization is a multidisciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. KGS Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. KGS collaborates closely with Project Kuiper to leverage the constellation of advance satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. The KGS Engineering team is seeking highly technical and talented individuals who are passionate about creating unique solutions that result in a positive impact on a global scale.

The Sr Satellite System engineer will engage with an experienced crossdisciplinary team to design integrate and test innovative product solutions. The Sr Satellite System Engineer will work closely with colleagues throughout Project Kuipers interdisciplinary team and collaborate with key partners and suppliers in order to ensure our system exceeds customer expectations. The Sr Satellite System Engineer must be responsive flexible innovative and able to succeed within a collaborative fastpaced and dynamic environment.

As a member of the KGS Engineering Integrated Systems Solutions organization the Sr Satellite System engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the requirements definition interface development integration test verification and validation of one or more of the following: the satellite bus RF payloads optical payloads custom ground terminals or custom user terminals. This includes testing analyzing and optimizing the particular satellite or ground element being developed and ensuring that it meets the needs of the specific customer and/or target application. Testing efforts include functional and performance testing through various environmental conditions as required to ensure system integrity. Responsibilities also include the design and test of support equipment necessary to enable efficient test and requirements verification.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading largescale programs with a diverse set of talented individuals as well as with partner organizations (including government agencies).


Key job responsibilities
Working within a project team and taking responsibility for a high bandwidth low earth orbit communications satellite constellation and terrestrial communication technologies
Define requirements develop interface control documents and perform requirements derivation and allocation analysis and technical budgets with tools developed to drive designs correlate models with test data and develop verification evidence.
Deepdives into component and subsystem designs to document expectations evaluate tests remedy test failures and provide quick feedback to improve performance
Collaborating with diverse technical teams such as software mechanical modem and compliance teams to validate expectations for systemlevel and networklevel operations from concept through
Integrating the endtoend RF communications system. Meeting with customers internally and externally to select components
Defining test plans and procedures for lab and environmental chamber testing based on identified requirements for subsystems and for the overall system
Defining test plans and procedures for onorbit payload verification or satellite testing based on identified requirements
Analyzing and mitigating potential selfinterference and other system interference issues
Configuring test equipment for automated operation: satellite link emulator spectrum analyzer signal generator etc.
Meeting with suppliers to select enabling lab technologies
Interpreting test results troubleshooting issues performing rootcause analysis for any test failures
Documenting test results test coverage and other key performance indicators (KPI) metrics
Communicating status and issues effectively with developers and managers
Shepherding payload subsystems through test campaigns throughout the development lifecycle from concept to implementation to integration.
Analyze test data and engage with others in Kuiper customers suppliers or partners to evaluate the product performance and provide proactive feedback on potential improvements.

Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) Engineering is a multidisciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. These solutions are tailored to meet the needs of government and international customers for both spacebased and terrestrial applications. The Integrated Engineering Solutions organization under KGS Engineering plays a vital role in the entire life cycle of the development of an engineering solution including architecture development requirements and interface definition through assembly integration and test (AI&T). verification and postdelivery and operational support.

Bachelors degree in engineering physics aerospace or similar field
8 years of space vehicle bus RF payload or optical payload integration and test or related industry experience
8 years of experience developing space or communication system test requirements plans and procedures for system design verification and validation.
8 years of space system bus or payload engineering or related industry experience
8 years of experience in space vehicle design and/or verification with launched products
6 years of experience in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (i.e. network analyzers oscilloscopes spectrum analyzers function generators multimeters etc.
6 years of experience developing code in C C Python Docker and Rust on Linux platform and experience with industry standard coding practices
Experience with testing satellite communications payloads optical communications payload spacecraft bus and constituent subsystems or space vehicle level.


Masters degree in engineering physics aerospace or similar field or equivalent experience
High sense of ownership urgency and drive; resourceful and able to deliver results with minimal direction
Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills with strong sense of ownership and drive
Ability to coordinate between engineering test lab and technicians (if applicable) and schedule testing resources
Experience as the technical lead leading small groups of other test engineers across multiple designs
Experience in developing and reviewing requirements to support various test phases
Experience in test plan development related to established space hardware test standards (GEVS/SMCS016 or military standards (MILSTD810 DO160
Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding of system engineering test fundamentals
Computational problem solving and test automation/optimization in one or more of the following: Python Matlab LabVIEW C/C Docker Rust on a Linux platform.
Experience with onorbit payload verification or satellite testing
Experience with communications theory and RF or optical systems: OFDM MIMO freespace optics polarization spread spectrum matching Sparameters losses coherence etc.
Understanding of the challenges associated with lowEarthorbit satellite communications: frequency bands regulatory earth stations path loss power spectral density power flux density etc.
Experience in wireless (satellite and/or terrestrial) system design and/or system integration RF system analysis
Detailed knowledge of satellite communication link budgets (RF and/or optical)
Familiarity with software development and hardware integration related to satellite payloads or ground systems
Broad knowledge of satellite communication link budgets (RF or Optical)
Broad knowledge and experience in multiple disciplines related to satellite or space systems including design integration test operation maintenance and configuration/data management
Experience supporting system engineering of space and/or ground systems development efforts including meeting cost schedule and performance goals.
Demonstrated experience working with government agencies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235200/year in our highest geographic market.
