Amazons Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial real estate lawyer to fill the position of Legal Counsel Real Estate/Colo supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry providing IT infrastructure services such as ondemand compute capacity storage content delivery database services and more.
As part of the AWS legal team you will be responsible for supporting AWSs worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions leases and serviced licenses. You will have transactional drafting and negotiating responsibilities on deals and will provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis. Transactions range from standard contracts to complex bespoke high value agreements. You will structure draft and negotiate agreements and leases help support AWSs existing portfolio manage outside counsel and advise internal business clients. In addition you will help develop implement and manage process improvements across the team resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handle prelitigation legal disputes and inquiries.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic enjoy working hard and being challenged and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
5 years of legal experience Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of real estate transactional documents (i.e. leases lease amendments purchase and sale agreements easements development agreements coownership agreements etc.
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and inhouse work Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
