We are looking for an exceptional regulatory and compliance attorney with significant experience counseling clients on environmental and safety requirements to help support Amazons environmental compliance team in North America. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside several of Amazons compliance teams to support Amazons store and operational businesses and to build new and audit existing processes that raise the bar for Amazons compliance with environmental and safety requirements. In this role you will be responsible for counseling on regulatory and operational requirements as well as impact the development and continual improvement of our stateoftheart technology tools used in our operational facilities and stores. You will need to have high judgment common sense and an appetite for innovation when advising internal teams on environmental compliance requirements. You will also be responsible for leading Amazons proactive and reactive engagements with a number of federal and state regulators such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board. Successful applicants should be fast learners who are detailoriented customerobsessed able to work independently and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations. They will also need to be passionate about innovation sustainability and customer safety. Preferred locations for this position is Seattle Wa.
Key job responsibilities Providing daytoday advice to our Amazons Environmental Assurance and Protection team on regulations governing our operations facilities and products; Monitoring and advising compliance business and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes; Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the environmental compliance team; Advising on internal processes and practices to support environmental compliance governance requirements and expectations; and Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of environmental regulatory inquiries.
5 years of legal experience Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and inhouse work Experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture sale distribution use and disposition of consumer products
