Department Summary

The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy has evolved into one of the countrys most productive and highestranked pharmacy schools. It has produced both practicing pharmacists and renowned researchers. It consistently ranks among the countrys top programs for research and instruction. But perhaps its most impressive achievement is the long line of scholars and pharmacists who have advanced patient care the profession of pharmacy and their disciplines.

The Department of BioMolecular Sciences has 19 fulltime faculty with research emphases in medicinal chemistry pharmacognosy pharmacology and environmental toxicology. The department has teaching responsibilities in several degree programs including the Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Natural Center for Natural Products Research and the National Center for Cannabis Research and Education are within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi.

Role Summary

Updates course curriculum and materials under the supervision of instructional staff or faculty in support of instructional advancement.

The Department of BioMolecular Sciences in the School of Pharmacy at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a full time Instructional Design and Training Specialist as an oncampus remote or hybrid position.

The successful candidate will have
Familiarity with learning management systems in particular Blackboard
Proficiency in eLearning platforms such as Articulate 360
Demonstrated ability to create new content from content material from faculty
Capacity to ensure consistency across courses and content delivery in the program


Examples of Work Performed

The responsibilities of the position are to

  • Provide instructional design services and support technology for online instruction in graduate education in science.
  • Train and assist faculty and staff on instructional technology
  • Develop measures to assess learning outcomes of technologyenhanced instruction
  • Promote instructional technology educational programs.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Organizes and develops curricula materials and programs to meet specific training needs.
2. Partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content.
3. Works to ensure course materials are current and relevant.
4. Plans and coordinates skill assessments and trainings.
5. Edits reviews and updates existing materials based on curriculum changes.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelors Degree

Experience:3 Three Years Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelors degree in educational technology instructional design or a related field and three years of experience in teaching online instruction and/or instructional design. Candidates with experience in STEM are encouraged.
