ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS!



The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF)Program Management and Administrationis looking for an Accounting Technician 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Pay is based on the locationof the selected applicant; salaries will be discussed at the time of the interview.
Anchorage: $29.73 / hourly (OT Eligible)
Juneau: $31.22 / hourly (OT Eligible)

What you will be doing:
This position performs analysis of complex lease agreements and lease amendments and requires thorough research and understanding of the lease prior to input into Divisions Lease Management System (LMS) Lease Projection System (LPS) LMS Accessories and IRIS.

Serves as expert in reconciling output of LPS/LMS standalong accounting system with IRIS. Serves as approving officer for approval of payment documents like invoices delivery orders and agency journal entries and requires the review of supporting documents for accuracy and legality. The work requires knowledge of the interrelationships of various accounting systems applications and computer systems and thorough understanding of a wide variety of transaction and accounts to resolve problems particularly when assessing unusual circumstances or conditions or dealing with incomplete unreliable or conflicting data.

This position also oversees the preparation of RSA billings and reconciliation of lease program receivables from agencies and is responsible for accounting transactions fiscal control and assisting in financial planning for the statewide leasing program.

This position may be filled in either Anchorage or Juneau. After training and with supervisor approval this position may be eligible for instate teleworking options.

Who we are looking for:

  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles standards and practices (for example double entry accounting accrual accounting) including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets financial statements ledgers and journals.

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers software applications databases and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable highquality timely and costeffective results. Determines objectives sets priorities and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.

  • Financial Systems: Knowledge of the standards architecture and specifications of automated financial systems including source documents system flows system interfaces and related internal controls.

  • Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers highquality products and services is committed to continuous improvement.

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience of which at least one year was at the fullproficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the nonfullproficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the nonfullproficiency level 3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience 3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
