Supports the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions focused on both secured and unsecured recourse credit facilities used for acquisition finance asset origination working capital etc. Cross sells other corporate banking products and key coverage role as an integral part of a larger capital markets coverage team that covers the North American Specialty Finance sector. The group covers a broad array of small to large cap nonbank financial institutions who operate across a wide spectrum of assets classes within two primary segments consumer (e.g. prime and subprime auto finance buy now pay later credit card installment mortgage student loans) and commercial (e.g. aircraft equipment fleet small business transportation). The Team Lead role is responsible for managing a diverse team of corporate bankers located in the US and Canada across key markets positioning the lending portfolio to extract meaningful relationship revenue and coordinating with key product partners across the capital markets platform.

- Oversees deal origination. Leads the deal team in executing pitches to prospective clients with efforts to maximize sector penetration and returns.
- Develops and maintains strong client relationships with decision makers.
- Provides clients with impactful strategic advice. Acts as a trusted advisor.
- Collaborates with sector coverage relationship partner to generate ideas identify client solutions pursue sector marketing efforts cover clients and deliver timely solutions.
- Leads and owns the credit legal operational reputational and all other risks as part of managing the portfolio of credit facilities deployed to support the Specialty Finance sector.
- Balances the Banks risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations/proposals.
- Makes decisions based on a strong understanding of risks; effectively evaluates riskreturn tradeoffs and proactively takes accountability for risks assumed.
- Ensures that bank policies and guidelines applicable to the division are complied with.
- Monitors client client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect clients portfolio and business needs.
- Prepares credit documentation (i.e. including applications memoranda presentations etc. for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides outstanding deal structuring business development and other expertise and negotiates transactions with clients on highly complex deals.
- Acts as the primary contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships which may include regulators.
- Completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. May includes client visits analysis of business models and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations
Qualifications:
- Typically 15 years of relevant Specialty Finance experience in a Corporate or Commercial Banking environment.
- Excellent knowledge of structured and securitization finance.
- Proven and independently verifiable client relationships within the Specialty Finance sector. Technical and strategic leader within the space.
- Successful history of structuring leading and underwriting a wide variety of corporate recourse credit facilities to the sector and tailored for the respective business model and asset class.
- Managerial change management and leadership experience preferably with a large crossborder located team.
- Undergraduate degree has focal areas of finance economics or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.
- MBA CFA or equivalent experience in financial services accounting and legal fields.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for parttime roles will be prorated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
