Job Description

Under general direction the 9237 Security Access Office Supervisor II performs difficult and complex professional level duties in several functional areas such as: background check adjudication assisting in the management of airport badging operations evaluation and development of training policies and procedures and overseeing the programs and functions of the Security Access Office (SAO).

You are excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Supervise Security Access Office resources and staff coordinate office maintenance and space utilization plans workloads assign responsibilities ensure compliance with federal rules regulations policies and procedures and oversee fingerprinting badging training keys permits and clearance programs.
  • Respond to and resolve any security accessrelated issues or concerns from airport employees contractors or other stakeholders by working with airport divisions and external airport companies; determine badging suitability; provide oversight and assistance to customers and stakeholders throughout the background check process. Ensure regulatory compliance through regular audits enforcement quality assurancecontrol research and inspections; compile required reports make presentations and in the absence of the manager may represent the department during audits and meetings.
  • Collaborate with other departments stakeholders and partnering regulatory agencies to ensure that the airport remains in compliance with badgingrelated regulations and requirements and to meet established goals and objectives; attends securityrelated meetings and conduct outreach and briefings with airport and tenant representatives.
  • Develop implement and document operations procedural guides and performance requirements for special security systems.
  • Assess industry trends best practices and federal rules and regulations updates to recommend improvements to systems equipment policies and programs to optimize resources and procedures; implement and communicate innovative changes to policies and procedures to internal airport staff and external airport companies.
  • Design impactful safety security and regulatoryrelated training programs that meet the specific needs of the organization and its staff; conduct training sessions in an articulate direct and captivating way utilizing various training techniques and methods.
  • Assist in managing the Security Access Office budget including acquiring equipment and materials purchasing controlling inventory conducting fiscal evaluations preparing reports and assisting in developing annual budgets.
  • Review and analyze safety security and operational data; confer with management to discuss evaluate and make policy recommendations on special projects and administrative and operational issues related to Airport badging and security.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Criminal History Records Checks inquiries from badge applicants and their companies and act as an alternate Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) for adjudication of badge application Criminal History Records Checks.

Qualifications :

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination) AND

Experience: Four 4 years of verifiable administrative level experience in a security badging program one 1 year of which was supervising work of staff involved in processing and issuing security identification badges and/or administering a security access program AND

License and Certification:

1. Possession of a valid California Class C driver license prior to appointment.

2. Possession of an Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) certification within six 6 months of appointment.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualification by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.

Oneyear fulltime employment is equivalent to 2000 hours 2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine fulltime employment.

SELECTION PROCEDURES

The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements.  Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to interview.  Depending on the number of applicants the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates.  If this becomes necessary only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited for an interview.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Clearance: Candidates for employment with the San Francisco Airport Commission are required to undergo a criminal history record check including FBI fingerprints and Security Threat Assessment in order to determine eligibility for security clearance and may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening. Per Civil Service Commission Rule Section 110.9.1 every applicant for an examination must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for the examination. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission.
