The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Division of Administrative Services (DAS) is recruiting for aTraining Specialist 2!
This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 18.

This position is open toAlaska Residentsonly.
What You Will Be Doing:
As our new Training Specialist 2 you will be essential in delivering specialized training and consultative services to department staff leveraging your advanced expertise to conduct needs analyses develop courses and oversee training initiatives for the DMVA. Your role will involve comprehensive assessments while adapting training content to address the unique needs of diverse audiences effectively blending technical and soft skills instruction. You will also have opportunities to manage training resources utilizing your knowledge of instructional design adult learning principles and effective communication to create impactful training content that aligns with departmental objectives.

DAS is proudly located on Joint Base Elmendorf/Fort Richardson (JBER) surrounded by the natural beauty of the Arctic Valley where you can enjoy a threemile paved walking / jogging trail and have access to both an onsite caf and nocost fitness center at the Army National Guard Armory. The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access are not within the States control.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:


Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training or education in training and development human resources education instructional design business administration social sciences or a related field;
AND/OR
Progressively responsible professional experience in developing delivering revising assessing and/or evaluating training needs and effectiveness; or human resources.

Special Note:
Competencies means a combination of interrelated knowledge skills abilities and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

Typically gained by means the prevalent usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.

Progressively responsible means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity difficulty or level of responsibility.

Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.
