Our Lady Star of the Sea is a Catholic Liberal Arts elementary school located in Bremerton WA. Currently OLSOS serves 235 students in PreKindergarten through Eighth Grade. We are delighted to have a school staff who embrace the mission of Catholic Liberal Arts Education and to have the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia of Nashville as a part of our community.

The purpose of our school community is to cultivate missionary disciples who are fully alive in Jesus Christ. Our school guides children into a meaningful friendship with Jesus Christ and a daily life patterned on the Catholic faith. Students discover that our Lord illuminates reason gives richer meaning to all learning and enlivens culture. Thus they grow in virtue and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. This relationship directs their lives to Jesus Gospel mission in an apostolic age that is a time when most people have not heard the Good News of Jesus. Our core purpose is to cultivate students who evangelize not merely through words but through an incarnational presence: when people encounter our students they are attracted to God through them.

Under the patronage of our Blessed Mother the mission of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School is to support parents in their role as the primary educators of their children. Our classical training nourishes students natural sense of wonder and guides them to know and love what is genuinely good true and beautiful. Faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church we form our students to be virtuous disciples of Jesus Christ and joyful witnesses to the Gospel.

The Position
We are seeking a learning specialist who will provide individual or group support for students in PreK8^th grade.

Job Responsibilities

Understand issues in definition and identification procedures for individuals with learning disabilities
Plan effective instructional strategies for adapting or modifying general curriculum to meet the needs of individual students
Become familiarized with the various curriculum used throughout the school including being trained in IEW Saxon Phonics and Singapore Math
Interpret schedule and prepare for IEP or 504 meetings with parents principal and lead teacher
Create Private School Plans for students after performing inclass observations data collection and assessments
Implement Tier 13 intervention strategies for both pushin and pullout services
Propose curriculum changes for needed individuals
Monitor student progress by taking frequent data to evaluate if learning strategies and instructional approaches are effective
Engage in professional development to stay up to date on strategies and services
Implement individual behavioral interventions plans (BIP) for given students
Create a weekly schedule that will accommodate lead teachers schedules
Provide continuous training and oversee the duties of the aide assigned to the resource room including review of their weekly data collection
Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents in a timely manner both in person and through written communication

Minimum Qualifications

Hold a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline; Masters preferred
Hold a teaching certificate in WA state/other state or working towards one
Be a practicing Catholic willing to pledge fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
Clear a background check and complete Safe Environment training

Salary
FullTime $40000 $55000
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity internal salary ranges market data applicants skills and prior relevant experience degrees and certifications.
