Your next career opportunity
As a Tutor or Senior Tutor in Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne youll have the opportunity to shape the minds of future media professionals. Youll deliver engaging tutorials and seminars contribute to curriculum development and potentially supervise student research projects. This role offers you the chance to develop your teaching skills in a supportive environment whilst staying at the forefront of media and communications theory and practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver HighQuality Teaching: Prepare and conduct tutorials seminars and potentially lectures ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences for students.
  • Assess Student Learning: Develop administer and mark assessments in line with University guidelines providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Contribute to Curriculum Development: Assist in creating and updating course materials learning management systems and subject guides to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Support Student Success: Provide guidance and mentorship to students potentially including supervision of Honours Masters and PhD theses.
  • Engage in Scholarly Activities: Maintain currency in your field through scholarly activities potentially contributing to research publications or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a dedicated educator with a strong academic background in media and communications possessing excellent teaching skills and the ability to engage and inspire diverse student cohorts in a university setting.

You may also:

  • Hold an Honours or Masters degree (for Tutor) or PhD (for Senior Tutor) in a relevant discipline.
  • Have a proven track record of effective teaching and learning practices in higher education.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of diverse student learning needs and the ability to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Show a commitment to professional development and staying current in your field.
  • Have experience in subject coordination and curriculum development (desirable).
