The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the states lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity equity inclusion accessibility and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment education and independent living. This position as a Business Employment Consultant works with employers in an assigned geographical area to establish integrated competitive employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The Division is seeking to hire an organized detailoriented individual with excellent communication skills.
Serves as a Business Employment Consultant within Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS)/Bureau of engagement and Support Services working in an assigned designated area of the state facilitating the establishment and maintenance of working relationships with the business community to develop integrated competitive employment opportunities for customers in the vocational rehabilitation program.
Researches and maintains awareness of labor market trends employment trends and opportunities for an assigned geographical area.
Collaborates with key partners in responding to business needs and maintaining effective support in addressing business inquiries and needs.
Works with manager to develop strategies to inform field staff service providers customers and critical partners and stakeholders of detailed employment and training opportunities.
Analyzes and recommends policy rules and procedural changes and makes recommendations for implementation and training for field staff.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four 4 years of college preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
Requires one 1 year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
One 1 year of professional experience in educating businesses on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities including but not limited to tax incentives available through Internal Revenue Service diversification in the workplace creation of a positive company image and expansion of the hiring pool.
One 1 year of professional experience working with federal and state regulations related to rehabilitation programs including the Rehabilitation Act and amendments the Workforce Innovationand Opportunity Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act or Social Security Act as it relates tobenefits planning.
One 1 year of professional experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with externalorganizations.
One 1 year of professional experience preparing detailed reports spreadsheets and presentationsin an accessible format for various audiences using software such as Microsoft Word ExcelAccess and PowerPoint.
One 1 year of professional experience researching labor market and employment trends for individuals with disabilities and developing short and longrange program goals.
One 1 year of professional experience interacting with and communication clearly and tactfully witha wide range of individuals that include agency staff state agency officials employers legislators public and internal and external stakeholders.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
