Job Description

A collaboration of the Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Sol Price School of Public Policy the USC Schaeffer Centers mission is to measurably improve value in health through evidencebased policy solutions research excellence and private and public sector engagement.

The Schaeffer Center is seeking a Project Specialist to join the Value of Life Sciences Innovation (VLSI) program who will provide research support to the Executive Director and researchers in the program.

Key duties include but are not limited to the following:

Compensation

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.40 $34.13. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal state and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Position is 100 FTE and a hybrid work arrangement.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

About the USC Schaeffer Center

Since its establishment in 2009 the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics has served as an intellectual hub for health policy and health economics research at USC. A collaboration of the USC Mann School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Sol Price School of Public Policy the Schaeffer Centers mission is to measurably improve value in health through evidencebased policy solutions research excellence and private and public sector engagement. As the home to about 150 faculty staff and fellowsincluding 3 Nobel Laureatesthe Center produces some of the leading academic research in its field. As of June 2023 the Schaeffer Center was ranked #5 out of 2711 institutions in health economics by IDEAS the largest bibliographic database dedicated to economics. This places the Schaeffer Center in proximity to the economics departments of Harvard MIT Stanford and University of Chicago. Schaeffer Center experts are also frequent advisors on national policy.

In 2023 Schaefferaffiliated faculty testified before the Senate Commerce Science and Transportation Committee; the Senate Finance Committee; and the House Ways & Means Subcommittee on Health. Center experts are regularly sought out by media outletsincluding the New York Times NPR Stat Wall Street Journal and Washington Postto provide insight on health policy issues. Schaeffer Center faculty are the recipients of approximately $75 million in NIH funding.

About the Sol Price School of Public Policy

Ranked among the foremost schools of public policy in the nation the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy generates uncommon knowledge for the common good. About the Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
