Title: Student Teacher Supervisor Music

The School of Music invites applications for Student Teacher Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
Student Teacher Supervisors mentor teacher candidate(s) in their student teaching internship across the state of Illinois. The supervisor is a liaison between ISU and the school district personnel primarily the cooperating teacher. The supervisor is responsible for observing the student teacher onsite and providing a formal assessment of the teacher candidates teaching episodes. In addition the supervisor will review various assignments associated with student teaching. The supervisor is responsible for assigning grades for the student teacher.
The supervisor will be expected to do the following:
1. Complete five visits with the student teacher and the cooperating teacher within the semester.
2. Keep weekly informal communication with the student teacher through phone calls or emails. Also informal communication with coop as needed.
3. Read and review student teachers edTPA materials if applicable.
4. Complete formal assessment of observations using School of Music rubric and uploading through LiveText electronic portfolio.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
1. Degree: Bachelor of Music Education or related field.
2. Five years of music teaching experience.
3. Ability to support and mentor the student teacher throughout the student teaching experience.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication.
5. High standard of professionalism as a representative of the School of Music and Illinois State University.
6. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position as mandated by state law.
