Job Description
Amazons leadership experience (ALX) organization is looking for a Data Scientist to join our interdisciplinary science team. In this role you will work with Data Scientists Applied Scientists Economists Data Engineers Product & Program Managers. This position requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills solid written and verbal communication skills goaloriented problem solving demonstrated ownership and ability to deliver results. The role will be responsible for developing science and generating insights that help more than 1.5 million employees build rewarding careers and shape how we manage Amazons talent.
ALX is responsible for managing all aspects of Amazon employees careers from onboarding to exit. We build intelligent products that are used by employees their managers and senior leadership to grow develop and reward Amazons talent. The domains we cover include career development talent evaluation employeerole matching promotions organizational design and succession planning and new areas that address the evolving needs of our diverse employee base.
We are looking for a data scientist who has experience building applying and customizing statistical and machine learning models to solve customer problems. As a data scientist on the team you will play a critical role in driving that handle Amazonscale use cases and have a significant impact on our employees lives. You will have the opportunity to lead exciting problems publish and patent your work in one of the most high impact and innovative applications of science in the People Experience and Technology space.

Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with crossfunctional leaders from product and engineering to implement measurable datadriven science solutions
Implement statistical machine learning or other mathematical methodologies to solve specific business problems
Design develop and maintain forecast and anomaly detection model to generate insights for organizational planning at Amazon.
Analyze historical data to identify trends and support decision making.
Actively mentor junior Data Scientist colleagues on trends technologies and best practices
Authoring and maintaining detailed technical documentation related to the projects you drive.
About the team
ALXs science team is an experienced central interdisciplinary organization of scientists spanning machine learning economics and research that builds science models for Amazons worldwide employeefacing talent management products designs and supports experiments for product features and measures impact of product and program initiatives across the broader organization. Examples of our work include forecasting anomaly detection topic modeling GenAIpowered summarization and writing assistants content and people recommendation systems scalable experimentation products and measuring organizational north star metrics.
3 years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL) scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R SAS Matlab etc. experience
2 years of data scientist experience
3 years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques and parameters that affect their performance experience
Bachelors degree
Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Experience in Python Perl or another scripting language
Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
Masters degree
Experience with applied time series modeling causal inference or machine learning forecasting applications.
