Amazons global fulfilment network enables any merchant in any of the geography ship items that you order on Amazon to any place on earth. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) delivery stations (DS) receive packages from Fulfilment Centers (FCs) and Sort Centers (SCs) and sort them to route level. Drivers come into the DS and pick up the packages for their route and deliver them to Amazons customers. This operation is also called the Last Mile. An integral component in the Last Mile ecosystem are Amazons WW delivery hubs where packages are received sorted and prepared for onroad delivery. Station Tech team in Last Mile is responsible for building scalable tools and technology for delivery hubs that scale across multiple programs and businesses including Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Global Specialty Fulfilment (GSF) to increase associate productivity site throughput and operational quality and scalability of our delivery network. Our primary customers are delivery station associates (our actual onground rockstars who sort millions of packages a day) station managers (who manage Amazon hubs WW to ensure customer promises are met) COs (central operations team who supervise stations across regions) and onroad delivery agents (drivers who sail through all obstacles to get your packages at your doorstep). The team build tools and process which guide our customers to reduce their cognitive load eliminate decision points to drive standardisation prioritise work to focus on the highest impact tasks and take steps for correcting operational defects to reduce the impact of human error and meet our customer SLAs.
Key job responsibilities
As a Controls SDE you will be a part of the team of experts working on the development of complex mechatronics products. The keys skills required for this role are:
* Advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16 Codesys 3.5 HMI VFDs Servo Drive Industrial Fieldbuses like EthernetIP Profinet EtherCAT IOLink)
* Advanced technical expertise in the industrial communication protocol (TCPIP OPCUA)
* Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems
* Handson experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred)
* Familiarity with version control systems like git
* Knowledge of ObjectOrientated Industrial Programming (OOIP)
* Experience managing software development including designing developing integrating troubleshooting and optimizing various automation solutions
* Strong project management skills including onsite commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing processes
* Excellent problemsolving and communication skills across diverse cultural contexts
* Familiarity with international safety machinery standards and certification processes
* Experience with automation solutions like conveyors sorters and robotic work cells

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python Ruby Golang Java C C# Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Bachelors Degree in Automation Controls or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Proven experience in advanced motion control platforms (HMI PLC Motion Safety) integrated design and programing
3 years experience with motion control software (Rockwell Rexroth Beckhoff B&R Siemens)
Experience with distributed systems at scale
Safety certification experience (CE UL CSA TUV)
Experience with integration of Nordson Valco Robatech or other industrial hotmelt application systems
Experience with integration of advanced visions systems (Keyence or similar) labeling and other ancillary device integration
Codesys programming experience
