Principal Data Scientist Drug Forecasting
Position Summary
CVS Healths Analytics and Behavioral Change department maintains industryleading analytical solutions to power enterprise value through automation and innovation. This position will be reporting to the Associate Vice President of Caremark Analytics.
The Principal Data Scientist will leverage their technical and product management expertise to drive our AI innovation to revolutionize the way CVS forecasts drug utilization. An ideal candidate within this role will be required to lead train and develop a team of data scientists who will be responsible for maintaining current processes as well as fostering innovative solutions.
This person will collaborate with business leaders and partners to help inform strategy development prioritization of analytic efforts and formulation of specific workplans and projects to execute across the retail pharmacy chain. This individual must be able to effectively influence and communicate with nontechnical audience using facts and wellreasoned cases.
Description/Fundamental Components:
Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes
Performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems
Utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses and specialized expertise in the organization and/or industry
Applies analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data using advanced statistical techniques
Manages large and complex analytical projects from data exploration model building performance evaluation and testing
Behaves as mentor to junior team members to provide technical advice
Collaborates with business partners to develop technical /business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools
Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions
Required Qualifications:
10 years of relevant analytic experience
Experience programming using R or Python
Experience in SAS or SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of mathematical analysis methods machine learning statistical analyses and predictive modeling and advanced indepth specialization in some areas
Strong skills to effectively communicate and negotiate across business and in the external health care environment
Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
Strong organizational management and leadership skills
Deep knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources
Solid understanding of health care industry products and systems
Demonstrates a strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners
Education:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics Statistics Computer Science Business Analytics Economics Physics Engineering or related discipline.
Masters degree or PhD preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144200.00 $288400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual fulltime salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience education geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus commission or shortterm incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the companys equity award program.
