Education: Certificate
Accreditation: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
oCommission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
oAccrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists
oAccrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC)
oAccrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)
oSouthern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
oFormal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
Certification: Current certification as a medical assistant by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
oAmerican Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
oAmerican Medical Technologists (AMT)
oAmerican Registry of Medical Assistant (ARMA)
oNational Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following handson certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of fulltime experience in the last three years as a CMA.
U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read write speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
DUTIES:
Prepare examination rooms prior to patients arrival.
Assist with patient checkins admissions discharges and transfers as directed.
Check patients vital signs to include temperature respiration pulse weight blood pressure and pulse oximeter reading.
Obtain and document patients current medical history drug history chief complaints allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
Complete lab and xray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient checkin; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
HOURS:
Fulltime health care workers (HCWs) shall normally provide services for 40 hours per week.
Services are required for a period of 8.5 or 9 hours (including a 30 minute or 1hour uncompensated meal break depending on shift length).
Base Bown Days:
During a planned closure of the facility due to training closures before or after holidays family down days Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours clinic is closed and employee is not able to work employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fastpaced dynamic be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous and able to work with various work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fastpaced demanding environment.
