TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8000 students located in Laredo Texas a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery teaching and learning community engagement and public service and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information please visit is a1year nontenure track Visiting Assistant Professor faculty position of Computer Engineering 9 month Appointment). Primary duties will includeteaching courses such as Digital Electronic Circuit Design Microprocessor Systems Electronic Devices and Applications Signals and Systems Robotics and Automation Software Engineering Algorithms and Data Structures and lowerlevel programming and general engineering courses. Successful candidates must also possess the ability to mentor and advise students working on Senior Design projects and undergraduate research activities. Duties also includeparticipating in ABET accreditation activities such as assessment and evaluation of student outcomes and other service activities as needed by the School of Engineering. This position requires facetoface interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The School of Engineering with thriving enrollment has ABETaccredited programs in Systems Computer and Petroleum Engineering. A transdisciplinary Master of Science in Systems Engineering program will be launched in Fall 2026.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold aearned PhD. Degree in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or a closelyrelated discipline. Applicants close to finishing a PhD. will be considered if their degree completion is prior to the start of theacademic year. We strongly encourage candidates who have a robust commitment to handson undergraduate engineering education.
