Job Description
The Admissions Counselor position at Minnesota State University Mankato is a dynamic role that focuses on the engagement and recruitment of prospective students. Admissions Counselors connect with prospective students and stakeholders to provide information about university programs and offer guidance on the application and enrollment process. As a member of the Recruitment Team an Admissions Counselor will lead daily information sessions and participate in various recruitment activities including oncampus events offcampus school visits and college fairs and virtual visits. This position will be based oncampus in Mankato but will travel regularly to an assigned geographic territory.
Responsibilities and Results
Describe and promote Minnesota State Mankato to prospective students and stake holders and offer guidance on the application and enrollment process via various communication channels and participation at oncampus and offcampus recruitment activities. 50
Manage recruitment activities and maintain relationships in an assigned geographic territory. This involves organizing an extensive travel plan that includes overnight stays for extended periods of time. 20
Review application materials in consideration of prospective students college readiness in order to recommend an admission decision. 20
Plan implement and evaluate additional projects as requested by the supervisor. These projects may involve supervising student workers/volunteers coordinating recruitment activities and events or updating materials and databases. 5

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (conferred on an official transcript by the start date of the position.
Valid drivers license

Ability to communicate effectively through interpersonal written and oral communication.
Ability to plan and execute complex travel arrangements.
Ability to supervise and provide direction to students.

Other Requirements
Work safely at all times which includes but is not limited to participating and completing all required safety trainings as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools equipment and personal protective equipment.
Must have ability to transport lift and carry bulky recruitment materials to remote sites
