Job Description
The Supervisor Cloud will lead the Cloud team in the configuration and operation of UCSF cloud infrastructure services. The Supervisor Cloud plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of UCSFs cloud infrastructure. This role supervises senior engineers and engineers in collaborating with a broad range of developers engineers business partners and key University stakeholders to provide bestinclass cloud services. The Supervisor oversees the team that configures and supports workloads in the cloud automates cloud infrastructure maintenance and builds new operational monitoring capabilities. This role is responsible for overseeing daytoday operations to ensure cloud services are efficient reliable and secure in delivery to customers.

The Supervisor Cloud will positively impact the University of California San Franciscos (UCSF) operations and culture by ensuring UCSFs IT infrastructure is operable secure efficient and effective in service of the Universitys mission. The Supervisor Cloud will advance the Universitys mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across customers and stakeholders. This role will execute UCSFs vision while modeling UCSFs culture and values.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $105900 $225900 (Annual Rate).

  • 5 to 7 years Experience in one or more of the following fields: information technology computer science engineering etc.
  • 1 to 3 years Experience in managing a team of technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing information technology platforms and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of the design development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience in delegating responsibility tracking project progress supervising others and advising teams on competing priorities. Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with source control testing and continuous integration techniques for both cloud applications and infrastructure. Demonstrated experience with DevOps solutions development and deployment paradigms. Proven experience with the build test and release of applications in the delivery pipeline.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloudbased automation tools and processes. Proven experience provisioning and maintaining cloudbased infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems system users and dependent/related functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Experience with design configuration operation repair and tuning of technology systems.
  • Proficiency in key Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and principles. Knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform Ansible Chef Puppet or equivalent IaC tools.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to triage and escalate to leadership and management for resolution. Ability to interpret analyze and apply pertinent servicelevel agreements policies procedures regulations and other requirements and turn them into actionable outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects.
  • Experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices including schedule management status reporting and communication of project risks and issues. Familiarity with budget planning and management business case development and service management.
  • Strong demonstrated problemsolving skills; ability to scope solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Ability to ask questions gather information evaluate options and make decisions with integrity.
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity diversity inclusion and belonging.
  • Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Ability to work with agility in a fastpaced environment


    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification or equivalent

All these tasks are critical not only for the smooth operation of the Universitys technological infrastructure but also for enhancing productivity enabling the provision of highquality health services and learning and ultimately improving patient and student outcomes
