Job Description

Job Summary:

The Student Assistant (SA) for Photography/Videography will work directly with the campus Digital Media Specialists to support various photo and video shoots. This includes assisting in the preparation and transport of equipment setting up shots capturing photos and videos as well as processing and editing the media. The role will also involve color correcting applying meta data to digital assets and some shooting. The ideal candidate will gain valuable handson experience in both photography and videography while contributing to the creation of highquality marketing content for the university.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Under direct supervision duties include but not limited to:

  • Assist the campus photographer and videographer during photo and video shoots including setup and breakdown.
  • Help carry and organize equipment ensuring everything needed for shoots is in place.
  • Capture highquality photos and videos for university events promotions and other marketing needs.
  • Download organize and archive media from shoots.
  • Edit and process photos and videos using Adobe Photoshop Premiere Pro and other software as needed.
  • Digitize colorcorrect and restore historical images in the university archives.
  • Collaborate with other team members in the Office of Marketing & Communications to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner.
  • Learn and utilize Wrike (our offices project management software) for projects and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty staff and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB 6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have fulltime enrollment at CSUSB. 12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications

  • Photography/videography techniques.
  • Experience with digital media editing and postproduction.
  • Ability to write proficiently.
  • Ability to learn quickly and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Currently enrolled as a student at CSUSB.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro (preferred).
  • Communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong attention to detail punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment.

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Work status: PartTime Temporary Seasonal

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday 7:00 am 5:30 pm).

This is an OnCampus Only position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Drivers License Check

Possession of a valid Drivers License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid drivers license and reflects driving record.
