Job Summary:
A position as a Laboratory Sciences Professional (open rank) is available within the Mosimann research laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics Section of Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado DenverAnschutz Medical Campus. This is a fulltime 1.0FTE) position that will utilize molecular biochemical genetic imaging and bioinformatic/computational approaches in a wet lab setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general support to laboratory staff and PI.
- Order reagents and materials and oversee inventory.
- Maintain laboratory stocks and buffers.
- Maintain laboratory records supplies samples in an organized manner.
- Maintain the laboratory and equipment in working and clean condition.
- Maintain laboratory compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.
- Collect accurately record and analyze data in conjunction with research staff.
- Utilize care for and maintain zebrafish for research.
- Perform standard molecular/biochemical assays including PCR cloning gel electrophoresis and western blots.
- Perform in situ RNA hybridization and immunohistochemistry.
- Perform microscopic analyses and basic imaging.
- Use standard bioinformatic/computational tools to analyze data sets
- Additional responsibilities related to the position as assigned by PI

The Mosimann research group is part of a highly cohesive productive academic unit in the Section of Developmental Biology within the Department of Pediatrics. The Section of Developmental Biology is committed to research that improves child health with five main objectives:
- Understand the genetic molecular and cellular mechanisms that guide normal development.
- Determine how normal developmental processes are altered to result in developmental disease and disability.
- Identify new diagnostic strategies and molecular and cellular therapies targeted at treatment of childhood disease.
- Train the next generation of leaders in developmental and stem cell biology and pediatric disease research.
- Serve as a hub for basic and translational child health research that spans the Anschutz Medical Campus research community.
To accomplish these objectives the faculty graduate students postdoctoral trainees and research staff who comprise the Section of Developmental Biology perform research using stem cell organoid and animal experimental models including Drosophila zebrafish and mice. Our investigations focus on several major tissue and organ systems such as the brain heart intestine face and vascular olfactory and immune systems. Our work is leading to a better understanding of childhood disabilities associated with neuropsychiatric disease Down syndrome the congenital basis of cardiovascular and facial malformations and the impact of maternal health on fetal development.

Intermediate Level:
- Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis.

- Three 3 years professional level research experience.
- One 1 year professional level research experience.
Senior Level:
- Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis.
- Two 2 years professional level research experience.
Principal Level:
- Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis.

- Three 3 years professional level research experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field.
- Four 4 or more years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
- Previous experience with bioinformatics/statistics using R Python or related programming language.
- Previous experience with fluorescence and confocal microscopy.
- Previous lab experience with zebrafish as a model organism.
- Previous experience with the generation of mutant or transgenic animals (using CRISPR/Cas9 homologous recombination or similar approach).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as:
- Intermediate: $48970 to $62290
- Senior: $52941 to $67341
- Principal: $60882 to $77442
The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
