Position Summary
The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering IU Indianapolis campus invites applications for one open rank tenured or tenuretrack assistant associate or full professor positions in HumanComputer Interaction for the Department of HumanCentered Computing. Appointments will begin August 1 2025 on the Indianapolis campus. Candidates should have an excellent research record demonstrated through highimpact peerreviewed publications. They should also demonstrate the ability or significant potential to secure external funding and develop a forwardlooking research agenda as a Principal Investigator (PI). We welcome all qualified HCI researchers. We are especially interested in those with expertise in: HumanCentered AI and Extended Reality As the states premier urban research institution IU Indianapolis is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive campus community. With its formative national role in creating the nations largest Informatics Program on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses the school is the broadest and one of the largest information/computing schools in the U.S. The school provides stateoftheart facilities including fully equipped classrooms media and gaming labs humancomputer interaction research labs usability and mobile development labs ample research facilities and studios for sound design and interactive media production. Access to advanced highresolution wallsized displays and virtual environments are also available within the Informatics and Communications Technology Complex. About the Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute CBATI and the Institute of Human Health and WellBeing (H2W) The Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute CBATI drives interdisciplinary bioscience and technology research and collaboration with industry partners in pursuit of discoveries ranging from wearable and implantable medical devices and sensors to the advanced detection of biomarkers and AIenabled drug discovery and delivery. With a goal of quickly delivering IU health and sciences innovations from the bench to bedside the institute will aim to stimulate substantial growth in the disclosure and licensing of inventions discoveries and innovations as well as industry partnerships and IUlaunched startup companies. The Institute of Human Health and WellBeing (H2W) targets healthfocused research that integrates digital technologies to meet community needs and improve health outcomes in Indianapolis. Bringing together faculty student researchers and thought leaders H2W addresses key challenges facing human health on an individual and global scale from using AI and machine learning to detect and monitor obesity and diabetes to pursuing communityengaged research focused on health equity.
